I have conducted research on lactic acid bacteria for forty years including my twenty-five-year experience as a researcher of the famous lactobacillus beverage manufacturer.

Let me speak about my conclusion as a compilation of my study I have ever conducted.

 

“Whether lactic acid bacteria need to be viable or not”, to tell the conclusion first, totally no need to be viable.

After all, it has nothing to do with being viable or killed.

That is the reason why killed bacteria attract rising attention.

From a safety and security point of view, viable bacteria may change.

That is the instinct of a living thing, and that is the essence of the food chain.

Naturally, viable bacteria make a transformation.

When we take in viable lactic acid bacteria which were made in a factory in a viable condition, we don’t know of a way to make sure whether the bacteria are the same ones from the factory or not.

There is no way to determine unless we measure components before we eat.

 

That is why killed bacteria are safer than viable ones.

3. What kinds of lactic acid bacteria is the best?

EF-2001 (Enterococcus faecalis 2001) was certified as the top lactic acid bacteria in comparison of immunity-specific activity by bacteria type.

 

Therefore, consuming EF-2001 is the best.

 

We hear a lot about “lactic acid bacteria metabolites” recently. They are substances that are produced by lactic acid bacteria, so when we evaluate the product of lactic acid bacteria metabolites, the most important thing is what lactic acid bacteria produced them.

According to the diagram above, it appears that the substance produced by EF-2001 is the best lactic acid bacteria metabolite.

It means it is like consuming EF-2001 lactic acid bacteria.

 

Those are the reasons why we recommend consuming EF-2001 whether lactic acid bacteria themselves or lactic acid bacteria metabolites.

4. How can we check the safety and reliability of the product?

As we stated in section 2, viable bacteria have possibility to make a transformation.

Therefore, viable bacteria need to be tested before we eat.

On the other hand, killed bacteria need to be tested before production.

There is no point in conducting a test during the culture process.

The most reliable product should be tested after lactic acid bacteria are killed.

 

Lactic acid bacteria EF-2001 which is mentioned in section 3 are conducted an activity evaluation test three times, and the last one is performed by the third party institution to further enhance product’s credibility.

When this activity evaluation test is carried out, the target for comparison becomes important.

There is little point in having a good result compared to water or milk.

We test EF-2001 against the anti-cancer pharmaceutical agent.

Only products that have a potency of at least 70% of that of anti-cancer pharmaceutical agent (Picibanil) are marketed.

No side effects for lactic acid bacteria have been reported, so EF-2001 is the best food which has a potency of at least 70% of that of anti-cancer pharmaceutical agent and no side effects.

5. How about the other ingredients?

No matter how safe and high in quality EF-2001 is, it won’t have meaning unless the other ingredients are also safe.

It means it would be dangerous for infants or puppies to eat.

 

Beware of additives or preservatives such as lactose, sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, aspartame, and so on.

6. Is a culture solution safe?

After cultivation process, lactic acid bacteria are precipitated and supernatant fluid is skimmed.

The sooner this process finishes, the better for cutting costs.

Therefore, they sometimes add weighing elements such as chitin/chitosan to culture fluid to accelerate precipitation.

The precipitation is accelerated by the elements sticking to lactic acid bacteria and thus, they are not the same bacteria as they were. It means the product contains the weighing elements in it.

This causes intestine obstruction or allergic symptoms.

7. Do we have to care about what animal the lactic acid bacteria derive from?

“For human, lactic acid bacteria derived from humans…”

“For dog, lactic acid bacteria derived from dogs…”

There certainly is a theory that it is good to have the lactic acid bacteria derived from the same species, but it is like a zombi story where they eat human when they are hungry. We don’t think that cannibalism is healthy.

We recommend that you take the lactic acid bacteria suitable for your intestinal bacteria and gut immunity.

8. Is it better to take many kinds of lactic acid bacteria?

There is a theory that it is good to consume many kinds of lactic acid bacteria.

But it sounds like the proverb ’He that oft shoots at last shall hit the mark.’ Because it also sounds like the only thing we can do to find the best lactic acid bacteria suitable to my intestine is eat as many kinds of lactic acid bacteria as possible.

It is said that from 300 to 1000, or more types of lactic acid bacteria have been found out so far.

If you had dated 1000 people before, it would be possible to try 1000 types of lactic acid bacteria to find the best one to you, but it seems to be unrealistic.

So we recommend to take one type of lactic acid bacteria which is known as the best for intestinal bacteria and gut immunity without being obsessive about compatibility.
